Product details
Roll roughening shot blasting machine is a key supporting equipment in the cold rolling production line of the metallurgical industry. It is mainly used for roughening pretreatment of the surface of rolls (especially cold rolls and work rolls on acid rolling lines) to give them a specific roughness profile. Shot blasting roughening treatment is a precise and controllable surface treatment process.

I. Core Performance Characteristics of Roll Roughening Shot Blasting Machine

1. High precision and controllability

Roughness control: This is the core performance of the roll roughening shot blasting machine. By precisely controlling the shot blasting parameters, uniform, random and isotropic tiny pits (i.e., roughened morphology) can be generated on the surface of the rolls. The roughness values (such as Ra, Rpc) can be precisely and repeatably controlled within the set range (for example, Ra 0.8µm - 10µm+).

Morphology consistency: Ensuring that the roughness distribution of the entire length and full circumference of the roll surface is highly consistent is a prerequisite for producing high-quality strip steel surfaces.

2. Efficiency and automation

Integrated production: As a supporting or connecting device for roll grinding machines, it can be seamlessly integrated with grinding, cleaning, measurement and other processes, achieving fully automated assembly line operations for roll processing.

Rapid processing: Compared with traditional electrical discharge burring (EDT) and laser burring (LDT), shot blasting burring is faster and more efficient when dealing with certain rollers with medium to high roughness requirements.

Automatic shot changing: The advanced equipment is equipped with a multi-chamber shot system, which can automatically switch shots of different particle sizes to meet the requirements of different roughness processes without manual intervention.

3. Excellent comprehensive performance

Enhance surface performance

Wear resistance: The shot blasting process exerts compressive stress on the roller surface, which can enhance the fatigue strength and wear resistance of the rolls, thereby prolonging their service life.

Adhesion: The roughened surface provides an ideal anchoring structure for subsequent chromium plating (for chromium plating rollers), greatly enhancing the adhesion between the coating and the substrate and preventing coating peeling.

Process flexibility: By changing shot materials of different types (such as cast steel shot, ceramic shot, etc.), particle sizes and shapes, as well as adjusting the ejection speed, flow rate and time, the final surface morphology can be flexibly adjusted within a wide range.

Environmental Protection and Cost

Compared with electric spark roughening, it has no waste gas or electrolyte pollution and is more environmentally friendly.

The cost of equipment purchase and maintenance is usually lower than that of electrical discharge and laser deburring equipment.

The operating costs (mainly electricity and shot consumption) are relatively low.

4. Technical limitations of the roll roughening shot blasting machine

Roughness upper limit: For roughening that requires extremely high roughness (such as Ra > 8µm) or very sharp peak and valley structures, the roughening ability of shot blasting may be inferior to that of electrical discharge roughening.

Morphological features: The pits formed by shot blasting roughening are relatively smooth in shape, and the peaks are rather blunt. For some high-end automotive plates that require special oil storage or specific surface textures, electric spark or laser deburring may still be the preferred choice.

Ii. Application Scenarios of Roll Roughening Shot Blasting Machine

Roll roughening shot blasting machines are almost applied in all cold-rolled strip steel production fields that require roughening rolls.

1. Classified by roll type

Cold-rolled work rolls and intermediate rolls: This is the most important application. Provide uniform roughness for the rolls to replicate the required morphology on the surface of the steel strip, improve the plate shape, control friction, promote lubrication, and enhance the adhesion of the coating.

Chrome-plated rollers: Shot blasting and roughening before chromium plating is the standard pretreatment process. The roughened surface is the physical basis for the firm adhesion of the chromium plating layer and is crucial for preventing the chromium layer from peeling off during high-speed rolling.

Flattening roller: It is used in flattening machines to perform surface finishing or secondary roughening on steel strips to adjust their surface gloss, roughness and mechanical properties.

2. Classified by the final product

Plain carbon steel cold-rolled sheet: Widely used in the production of cold-rolled sheets for home appliances (refrigerator, air conditioner panels), general hardware, construction and other fields.

Coated plate substrate: It provides high-quality roughened substrates for galvanized (GI/GA) and tin-plated plates, ensuring the adhesion and surface quality of the coating.

Automobile sheet

The inner panels of mid-to-low-end automobiles: A large number of steel plates produced by shot blasting and roughening rolls are used to meet the basic forming and painting requirements.

Some outer panels: With the advancement of shot blasting technology, certain automotive outer panels that do not have extremely strict surface requirements can also be used.

Stainless steel plate: It provides a uniform matte surface for stainless steel cold-rolled plates (such as pretreatment of No.2D and 2B surfaces), improving their processing performance and appearance.

Aluminum foil rolling: In the rough and medium rolling stage of aluminum foil rolling, shot blasting and roughening work rolls are used to obtain the required surface structure and control rolling lubrication.
